2. MINING INSERTS and BUTTONS
Ultramat supplies large quantities of highest-quality tungsten-carbide mining inserts to the percussion-drilling industry worldwide. Established customers have proclaimed the Ultramat/GESAC buttons to be the best quality carbide they have ever experienced from any supplier. Delivery security is usually close to 100%. All standard configurations of diameters, bases, dome-shapes and lengths are readily available in the complete range of standard percussion-drilling carbide grades. These specifications may be obtained from the table of standard hardmetal grades supplied.
3. COLD-FORGING DIE BLANKS
Ultramat supplies customers with a range of typical sizes of centre-holed cylindrical blanks for the heading-die and cold-forging industries. High cobalt grades are often subject to distortion in liquid-phase sintering, but GESAC's manufacturing process yields good control of dimensions in these sometimes difficult-to-make parts. Sizes typically supplied are as follows:

4. MILL ROLLS / MORGAN ROLLS FOR STEEL MANUFACTURING
Ultramat's premier supplier GESAC currently supplies eight of China's leading steel mills with their tungsten carbide-cobalt mill rolls. Binder oxidation is often a problem in hot rolling, and GESAC is able to offer alloyed-binder grades for these applications which make use of nickel, chromium and other additions to mitigate oxidation problems. Standard mill-roll sizes up to diameters of approximately 400mm are available.
5. BURR BLANKS
Cylindrical and other shape blanks used for rotary die-grinding burrs are supplied in large quantities. Quality is of the highest level encountered in the industry, and dimensional control is excellent. All standard carbide grades are available.
6. SAW TIPS
Tungsten carbide ISO K and P grade saw tips are supplied in a range of standard sizes for wood and steel-sawing applications.
7. WEAR BLOCKS
A large variety of standard and custom size blocks, strips and plates of tungsten carbide for crushing, ceramic extrusion etc are available in all standard carbide grades.
8. TUNGSTEN CARBIDE STRIP
Tungsten-carbide strip is available in all standard sizes ranging from 2x4x330mm to 5x30x330mm. Standard ISO K10 and K20 grades are available which make use of 1-2μm WC grain size combined with 6% cobalt binder, and K05-K20 grades making use of ultrafine (0.8μm) and super-ultrafine (0.4μm) WC are also available. These grades can combine the ductility and ease-of-brazing which is a consequence of higher cobalt content (8-12%) with the extremely high hardness available from ultrafine WC grain-sized materials.
Straightness and dimensional control is excellent.

9. CUSTOM MILLING, TURNING and SUGAR-ROLL GROOVING INSERTS, BLANKS
A number of industries make use of specialized (non-ISO coded) inserts, profiling tools, threading tools and other parts. This is particularly the case in certain heavy industries and other allied to mining, foundry and automotive components. Ultramat is able to supply highest-quality blanks in all ISO P, M and K-grades for machining of mild and low-alloy steels, stainless steels and cast irons, which are usually profiled by the customer or by specialized precision tool-grinding technicians. In addition, Ultramat is able to offer ready-to-use profile tools to meet most customer requirements. Please do not hesitate to call our technical representatives to discuss your requirements. Ultramat-based tooling has proven highly cost effective in these specialized industries due to our combination of technical know-how, highest quality carbide and reasonable pricing.
Large inserts used for initial grooving and reconditioning of cast-iron sugar roll grooves are available in a variety of angles and grades, to match the precise needs of the varying conditions encountered in this industry. The dimensions and usual carbide grades are illustrated below:
10. Boron Carbide Nozzles
Boron carbide nozzles and inserts are produced by hot pressing. They are used in sandblasting and shot peening equipment.
Advantages of Boron Carbide Nozzles:
- Longer service life. In terms of service life, boron carbide nozzles have the longest service life, such as for sandblasting and shot peening.
- Lower cost per use. Boron carbide costs more but will outlast tungsten carbide by 3 to 10 times.
- Reduce down time
- Maintain efficiency
